About the Climate Science Lab

Who are we? Founded in 2015, the Portland State University Climate Science Lab (CSL) is a group of climate scientists, meteorologists, and physical geographers working on a range of applied and basic weather and climate research. In addition to being a research lab, we provide research training and education at the undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral levels, helping prepare the next generation of scientists.

How is our research funded? Research is currently supported with a combination of federal research grants (NSF and NASA), community partnerships/contracts, and university support.

What is the relationship between the CSL and PSU? The CSL is housed in the Department of Geography and directed by Dr. Paul Loikith, Associate Professor in Geography. Graduate students advised by Dr. Loikith are generally in the Geography and Earth Environment and Society graduate programs. The CSL also collaborates with the Institute for Sustainable Solutions and other academic programs.

How can I learn more about the CSL? Please contact Paul Loikith at ploikith@pdx.edu to learn more about the research we do, opportunities in the lab, ideas for collaboration, or ways to support climate research at PSU.
