Check out the slides below for an overview of CRPW (now ORSS) work in the year 2025, by Nora Dunkirk. Slide 7 gives results by the numbers, and after that are some "superlatives" from across the season.
2012 - Citizen's Rare Plant Watch (CRPW) was created by Erin Gray of the Rare and Endangered Plants Committee of the Native Plant Society of Oregon (NPSO)
2012 - led by Jason Clinch for NPSO’s Portland Chapter
2015 - led by Kris Freitag for the Rae Selling Berry Seed Bank & Plant Conservation Program
2025 - led by Nora Dunkirk for Oregon Biodiversity Information Center (ORBIC) and Rae Selling Berry Seed Bank & Plant Conservation Program. Renamed Oregon Rare Species Spotters to reflect our mission and function in Oregon.
2025 held a lot of changes for CRPW/ORSS! Nora Dunkirk took on the leadership of this volunteer program and expanded the species to include rare species of Fungi, her expertise.
Nora lined up new funding sources including with the Greenfield-Hartline foundation to partner with the Coalition of Oregon Land Trusts (COLT) to assess rare species on COLT properties in 2026.
