Matt Bullen is a Master's student in the Orientation & Mobility program at PSU, where he is a federally-funded IDEALS scholar. After graduating from the University of Birmingham (UK) in 1991 with a combined honors BA in Philosophy & English, he moved to Seattle and soon started working at Seattle Children's Hospital. He was employed there for 18 years, the last eight of these as a program coordinator in the Family Resource Center, working directly with patient families on health education questions and concrete matters such as community information and practical services. At SCH he won two Dr. David Tapper awards. He has also written professionally about dance and other topics. His interests within O&M include distance education; links between ballet and the confident conduct of the body in everyday spaces; and how traveler stress might be affected by perceptions of time.
