During PSU Day of Giving, you have an opportunity to directly support the next generation of early childhood educators through the Indigenous First Steps Early Childhood Certificate program.
The Indigenous First Steps Program (IFS) is a professional pathway designed to advance culturally sustaining early childhood practices. The program centers Native language, culture, histories, and oral storytelling traditions to support the recovery and sustainability of Indigenous cultures in early learning settings. It emphasizes Indigenous perspectives, knowledge systems, and community approaches, serving both early childhood educators in Indigenous communities and those working alongside Indigenous communities who seek to deepen their understanding and practice.
This year, support is especially important. State and federal funding sources that many students rely on are being reduced or eliminated, making private support critical to sustaining access to this program across Oregon.
Gifts help remove barriers so students can focus on their education, leadership, and futures.
• Tuition and program fees
• Learning materials and supplies
• Student success and retention
A generous matching donor will match the first $1,000 raised, doubling the power of every gift.
• Early Giving Opens: April 8
• Day of Giving: April 15–16
• Campaign Ends: April 20
Every gift, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference.
By giving, you are investing in Indigenous leadership, community knowledge, and the future of early childhood education.
Please share this opportunity with others who may wish to support the Indigenous First Steps program.
