This asynchronous session focuses on ideas and methods for teaching about the power relationships in public spaces. The presentation will include a discussion of decolonizing geography, its implications on telling the story of public spaces, and resources for teaching these topics through diverse voices. Topics within this overarching theme that will be addressed will include maps, place names, environmental justice issues, and the juxtaposition of policies, geography, race and socioeconomics.
