Cross-Specialization Doctoral Symposia
Example Video Lecture: Kuhn, Paradigms, and Paradigm Shifts - I organize my teaching to optimize student interaction and co-construction, but I also strive to explain complex concepts clearly. In the doctoral program, I regularly provide written or video previews of complex or abstract readings to help students construct meaning as they read.

Kara Huynh Stone, Coordinator, Rise to Teach Program, Portland Community College

In addition to leading the design of the Licensure in Elementary Education Program (LEEP), I have played a leadership role in each of the following major program revisions:
Read Oregon (2019)
Collaborated with the Literacy Committee to redesign the program of study for the ReadOregon reading endorsement program in response to revision of the International Literacy Association standards and Oregon dyslexia standards, and to consolidate PSU’s two reading endorsement programs into one. Responsible for preparing syllabi four of the eight courses in the program for approval through the Online Curriculum Management System (OCMS). Drafted course revision and new course proposals for the OCMS.
Elementary Graduate Teacher Education Program (2015-2017)
Actively contributed to a department-wide effort to redesign the Elementary and Secondary Graduate Teacher Education Programs and to incorporate support for edTPA (the new state-mandated teacher performance assessment).
Curriculum and Instruction Reading Endorsement Program (2010-2011)
Contributed to a major revision of the Reading Endorsement program. Facilitated the alignment of courses with IRA Standards using a systematic process that surfaced important gaps in the curriculum and led to the addition of a core course on teaching and assessing students with unfinished literacy learning. Developed new curricula for two courses and collaborated in the design of a new practicum. Collaborated to design transition points for the Reading Endorsement program in the TK20 data management system to keep better track of candidate progress and facilitate stronger advising support.
Educational Leadership Doctoral Program (Curriculum and Instruction Specialization (2010-2012)
Contributed to the development of a new doctoral specialization in Curriculum and Instruction.
