1. Apply evidence-based knowledge to creating and updating the BCCC improvement plan while maintaining ethical and culturally aware practices in the clinic
2. Support and connect the operational plan for data collection and review to inform QI work
3. Provide BCCC with a sustainable QI framework
4. Present findings in an accessible format to share with new students to BCCC and IHI
Quality improvement and community organizing theory will be learned through the Institute for Healthcare Involvement (IHI) and one-on-one mentoring sessions with Sherril Gelmon, MHSc, DrPH. Deliverables from the IHI modules will support the development of the QI framework and improve the sustainability of the QI work by creating more buy-in through community organizing techniques.
I will gather old QI resources from the student-run clinic, conduct one-on-one meetings to understand current data management efforts that will inform opportunities for improvement, and create a QI framework.
The QI framework itself will be a document that outlines the following key areas: clinic goals, data sources, data collection, data analysis, techniques for QI identification, QI project implementation, evaluation strategies, etc.
This project is supported by Sherril Gelmon, MHSc, DrPH and other key student leaders in the clinic including Kanwar Thind and Becca Brooks.
