About Me

I am an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Portland State University. 

As of June 2024, I am the Director of the Society for the Study of Ethics and Animals (SSEA). 

As of July 2024, I have a new Substack blog, Philosophy Happens. 

Prior to coming to PSU in 2008, I taught at Wake Forest University for three years. Before that, I received my Ph.D. from Duke University. I have also been a visiting scholar in philosophy departments at Rutgers, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the University of Arizona.  Please click on the tabs/menu above for more information about me.
