About Me

I am an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Portland State University.

I am the Director of the Society for the Study of Ethics and Animals (SSEA).

I have a Substack blog, Philosophy Happens.

Prior to coming to PSU in 2008, I taught at Wake Forest University for three years. Before that, I received my Ph.D. from Duke University. I have also been a visiting scholar in philosophy departments at Rutgers, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the University of Arizona.
