I am an Associate Professor of Geography at Portland State University in the School of Earth, Environment, and Society.
My Ph.D. is in Geography from Clark University in Worcester, MA. My dissertation, "Dust storms and dying lakes: Wastefulness, reasonable and beneficial use, and water transfers in California," used qualitative and archival methods to examine the impacts and politics of California's water transfers over time. I also hold a master's degree in Community Development from UC Davis and a BA in Geography from Simon's Rock College. Before joining PSU, I was a postdoctoral water policy research fellow at UC Berkeley Law's Center for Law, Energy & the Environment.
Prior to graduate school, I worked as a researcher in the area of sustainable agriculture and worked on several organic farms. Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, biking, exploring Portland's great food, and camping and adventuring with my family.
