Welcome to the GLE 3O and GLE 4O home page!
The focus of this course is to prepare students for the future while improving their learning skills and personal management skills. Students will continue to explore different pathways and opportunities (workplace, apprenticeship, college, university) and begin to prepare for these transitions. Time will be provided to complete other course work in order to put your learning skills and study skills into practice.
Overarching Learning Goal 1: Personal-Management Skills and Strategies for Success
Students will demonstrate an understanding of how their learner portrait can be used to maximize learning and achieve success in school
• identify and apply the personal-management skills and strategies that contribute to success in a variety of settings;
• explain the impact of personal factors on achievement and apply strategies for personal improvement;
• apply the interpersonal skills and strategies required to achieve success in reaching goals in a variety of settings
Overarching Learning Goal 2: Learning Skills and Strategies for Success
Students will demonstrate a variety of learning skills and strategies required for success in school including literacy and numeracy in everyday contexts
• evaluate learning skills and strategies that contribute to success in various settings;
• apply appropriate literacy and numeracy skills and strategies to support learning and planning for postsecondary choices;
• analyse their learning skills and styles to determine their learning strengths and needs, and develop strategies to maximize their learning while in secondary school and throughout their lives.
Overarching Learning Goal 3: Preparing for Transitions (Exploring Pathways)
Students will demonstrate an understanding of postsecondary pathways and the skills and strategies needed to prepare for the various transitions.
• demonstrate knowledge of selected workplace trends in order to make decisions about postsecondary choices and pathways;
• apply research and career-exploration strategies to identify postsecondary options;
• identify and describe the learning environments and resources available to support lifelong learning.

Learning strategies is a course that helps students develop and improve skills necessary for academic success and prepare for the transition out of high school. These may include:
