February 23, 2021Brampton, Canada—My dad decided to move to Canada. He is originally from India. He left his home country for his job. He was working as an IT consultant in many different countries such as U.K., Paris, Italy and more. But then, he got a job in Canada.
My dad wanted to live in Canada because he wanted to raise his kids in a multicultural environment. He wanted me to not be judged by my culture. So, he decided to move to Canada since that was the only country for a multicultural environment.
I asked my dad why he chose to move to Canada and not other countries. “Canada is the only country where immigrants can fulfill their dreams and raise kids in a multicultural environment,” he stated.
My dad had to leave his home country not just for me and my mom, we also left because of his job because he was an IT consultant. Then my dad found a job in Canada. So we moved to Brampton.
I also asked him why he left his home country. “I left my home country because of my job,” he said. My father also moved to Canada because he is working as an IT consultant for over 15 years in different countries. Then, he finally decided to accept Canada as a new home. He believes Canada will emerge as a leader in next-gen technologies.
He also said that it is much colder here in Canada than in India, since it is a tropical country and much hotter. “But overall, it was not that different from my home country,” he said. After we settled in Canada, we met a lot of new friends who used to live in our building.
“What was it like to be in a new country, how is it different?” I asked him. “As a new immigrant 5 years ago, we didn’t feel this as a new place, people were nice and we were accepted as any other person living in Canada,” he said.
