May 12, 2020We all know that keeping in touch with your friends and family during this time is hard. How can you relax with your friends if you're more than eight meters away? You can’t do much from far away. This article is going to be about why and how you should stay social.
Staying social is important during these times because it helps you feel connected. Now that COVID-19 is here, it’s really hard to keep in touch. In quarantine, you can’t visit your friends anymore, or even leave your house much. It makes you feel like doing nothing. When that happens, you might stop exercising- or eating healthy things. This isn’t healthy for your brain or body. That’s why you have to keep in touch with people that are important to you. It makes you feel good to talk to your aunt or friend. It makes you feel like you are still together.
A good way to stay social online is through video calls. My family video calls sometimes as a way to see each other. During these times, I've found it helpful to do video calls, school work, and to have fun. Another good way to stay social online is through texting. Unlike video calls, you don’t have to be online at the same time to get the message through.
You might not realize it, but these are ways you can still be together but from a distance. Of course, you have to stay away from each other, but that doesn’t mean you can’t see each other. A way to stay social without social media is by going outside and just hanging out. What I mean is, you can go outside and stay in your yard. Maybe you can talk to everyone while still staying in your space. If you want to do a community social distancing project, you could bring out some chalk and write some nice messages.
One more way to stay social is to have fun with your family! Instead of playing video games in your room, you could create a family Monopoly tournament. Inside of ordering takeout (it’s not safe anyways), maybe create a kid's cuisine and make dinner. There are lots of ways you can socialize from the inside. If you have a video game system, why not play a game with your sibling? It’s interesting to realize that you could have a lot of fun from just inside your house.
Now that you see how you can stay social while being quarantined, what are you waiting for? Go out (or stay in) and have some fun! Be creative. These lots of things you can do, so I won’t keep you waiting. Just remember to stay safe.
