GRADE 11 MEDIA ARTS
UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE PREPARATION
This course focuses on the development of digital media skills through the production of art works involving traditional and emerging technologies, tools, and techniques such as new media, computer animation, and web environments. Students will explore the evolution of digital media arts as an extension of traditional art forms, use the creative process to produce effective media art works, and critically analyse the unique characteristics of this art form. Students will examine the role of media artists in shaping audience perceptions of identity, culture, and values.
Students apply critical thinking skills to create, analyze and solve problems related to produce a range of communications media products or services.
Students apply project management techniques to the planning and development of communications media products.
Students demonstrate an understanding of and apply the interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work effectively in a team.
Students apply a design process or other problem-solving processes to meet a range of challenges in communications technology;
Students demonstrate an understanding of social effects and issues arising from the use of communications media technology
Students demonstrate an understanding of and apply safe work practices in communications technology activities.
Students learn to solve design problems using design elements (e.g., line, form, colour, texture, space) and principles (e.g., balance, rhythm, proportion, contrast, flow);
Students learn to apply communications technology terms, and use them correctly in oral and written communication.
Students use a variety of planning techniques and tools when creating plans for communications technology projects
Students apply creative skills, equipment operating skills, and software skills to create components for a media production.
Students learn safety protocols required in the shop and also safety procedures when using tools, materials and equipment
Students become aware of environmental issues related to technology and society
Demonstrate an understanding of production processes and workflows
Demonstrate different types of communications software used to create communications technology products and services
Apply creative skills, equipment operating skills, and software skills to create components for a media production
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and cooperatively in team/group settings
Demonstrate thoughtful knowledge of environmental issues in their work
