There are three types of Symbols in Adobe Animate: Graphic Symbols, Buttons, and Movie Clips. I think that Graphic Symbols are the simplest to understand and the most useful Symbol for animation, so I’ll be focusing specifically on Graphic Symbols. This video covers what Symbols are, some basic use cases, and how to create and edit Symbols.
This video dives deeper into instances and the connection between the main Timeline and the Timeline inside the Symbol. I also show off the Frame Picker, a tool designed specifically for Symbols.
In this video, you'll learn how to use Colour Effects to save time and make your animation better. Colour Effects make it easy to quickly change the colour and transparency of your Symbols in a non-destructive manner. Colour Effects are applied to Symbols, so you'll first need a basic understanding of Symbols.
