Art Club is a safe space for creative expression that suits a range of needs, interests, and skill levels. It is both a space for cultivating niche hobbies and broadening one’s understanding of artistic techniques, for the beginning and advanced artist, for the artist who aims to improve their command of a certain skill and the artist who aims to learn something new with their friends – put simply, we can help you define Art Club into whatever you can dream it to be!
Despite the unprecedented challenges that come with this year, the above still holds true – perhaps even more so, considering the importance of taking a break and finding ways to socialize in a time where most of our daily activities have been reduced to working alone at a screen. At Art Club, we recognize this and aim to work harder to provide an online environment where you can have fun and engage with your fellow artists! Check out our Instagram page (@art.woodlands) for examples of our members' art!
Auto club enables students the opportunity to work with a diverse group of learners from grade 7 to 12 here at The Woodlands School during lunch and after school hours. In the past our club has raised money for various charities and competed in numerous skills competitions while learning to work together as a team. We also marketed our product which consisted of a vehicle maintenance winter package and seasonal detailing. The students also learned to handle funds and execute business operations while assuring quality control. Auto club provides the space for students to be driven to learn, grow and use new skills. This is an opportunity for students to have hands on experience with not only self-improvement, but also the basics of what is required with a part time job or even running a part time business (e.g. car detailing). With encouragement and support the students make the right decisions themselves, they become motivated in seeing the tasks completed successfully while they individually gain leadership experience and confidence.
Our club aims to promote a greater interest in computer science and connect like-minded individuals who aim to be the leaders of our future. Open to all skill levels, WCS club focuses on a wide variety of topics, such as introductory Python, competitive programming, web development and more. Our club meets once per week for one hour, where presentations and supplementary content is provided. All those interested in computer science, regardless of experience, are encouraged to join for an educational and enjoyable time!
In debate club, students are taught about various speaking/argumentation skills and current affairs, along with how to debate in different structures. We compete at various university tournaments across North America, including McGill, Harvard, Upenn, UofT, and more! Woodlands debate is one of the largest & most successful debate clubs in the province, having won 3/4 of all the Canadian University tournaments we attended last year.

Faith In Action is a Christian fellowship that provides a friendly community for worship, Bible studies, discussion, and prayer. We typically meet on Mondays at lunch, but this year our meetings are fully virtual - Mondays at 3:30 pm. We invite all Woodlands students to join us for our weekly video series & testimonies.
Math Club meets weekly with the goal of training for various math contests. In additional to National Math Competitions, we hold school-wide competitions and host various events throughout the school year aimed to promote recreational mathematics.
Woodlands Based Competitions:
Woodlands Math League: A math club run contest which runs from September to March. Winners of this contest are selected to the Waterloo Team Competition in years that we win the entrance lottery.
Peel Team Mathematics Competition: A team event hosted by our Math club where schools from Peel compete against each other using the events from the Waterloo Team competition.
Participation and performance in these contests build a track record for qualification into competitive Mathematics and Engineering based programs in Ontario, and in particular Waterloo University.
The Woodland's Robotics Club, Team 4308 Absolute Robotics, participates in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) every year, meaning we have only 6 weeks to design, construct and compete with an industrial-sized robot. By joining 4308, you get the opportunity to gain real, hands-on engineering experience working with mentors, teachers, and fellow students - there are many ways to get involved and no experience is required!

The Prefects are a group of student ambassadors in Grades 10-12 who fundraise for local and global causes throughout the school year. In the past we have supported charities for education, mental health awareness, environmental conservation and more. We also run fun events like bake sales, virtual escape rooms, gaming tournaments, and much more! Every year we support two causes, and this year's are education and mental health. The charities we chose are The Citizens Foundation Canada (TCF Canada) for education and Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) for mental health. Prefects are a core part of the Woodlands community, and run key annual events that both unite the student body and bring attention to important issues. We can't wait to meet the next generation of Prefects to join our family!

Ultimate Frisbee is a non-contact sport, and is exciting and fast-paced. As a sport that is self-refereed, Ultimate Frisbee encourages fairness, sportsmanship, respect, and above all else, a great team spirit!
The Woodlands Athletic Association is the primary athletics and sports club in the school, responsible for promoting sports, athletics, and student spirit within the Woodlands community. In previous years, we have been responsible for scorekeeping all home games of Woodlands varsity sports teams, running intramural events at lunchtime, and organizing athletic events like buy-in games and the annual Athletic Banquet. This year, the WAA has been forced to run virtually, and has taken the responsibility of organizing online events and campaigns to promote healthy living and physical activity for Woodlands students. In 2021 and beyond, we hope to return to our regular in-person events, while adding on this newfound responsibility to promote an important aspect of our lives. The WAA is thrilled to see what this year and the future have in store for Woodlands athletics and sports. Go Rams Go!
In addition to offering a thriving drama program to all students, The Woodlands School offers an exciting after-school drama club. Every year, The Woodlands Theatre Company (WTC) mounts a number of productions, providing ample opportunity for students to get involved in their school. In addition to their annual mainstage show, The Woodlands partakes in the StudentWrights Festival, National Theatre School Drama Festival, the Canadian Improv Games, and more!
Whether a student's passion be acting, singing, dancing, technology or business, there is a place for them in the WTC! With upwards of 120 students participating in the creation of Woodlands productions, it is a wonderful way to meet and collaborate with students of every grade.

The Woodlands Woodstock is the school newspaper at the Woodlands. Our student members deliver content and write articles pertaining to school events, clubs, sports, student life and much more. We use our website and social media to try to keep students up to date while also providing fascinating stories on some of the most significant events at the Woodlands. This year we plan to expand our horizons in terms of the subject matter we cover and the media we use to deliver it, while also trying to put our social media and website to other, better, uses.
