Math at home

The following websites are great for math learning;

Any Grade:

• TVO mPower math for students in K-6 (You will need to create a FREE account to access this resource)

• Prodigy Math Game - a virtual world where kids explore and battle with math facts. This is based on Ontario curriculum and 'learns' your child's areas of need and adapts to their specific learning level. Free, but an account is required.

• Steve Wyborney's Esti-Mysteries - scroll to the bottom of the page for grade specific estimation mysteries that call upon student estimation skills to solve the mystery and find the missing number

• Which One Doesn't Belong? - Supports student reasoning and communication skills in math. Open ended questions provide insight into student thinking and processes.

• Would You Rather Math - Develops reasoning and justifying skills in math.

• NRICH Maths at Home - packed full of games and activities for you to work on at home.

• Bedtime Math - A collection of fun real-life math challenges

• Greg Tang Math - Author of children's math stories like "The Grapes of Math" and "Math Fables". This website has games and resources to build math skills.

• Math Playground - games organized by grade.

Kindergarten:

• TVO NumberBlocks - learning about numbers for kindergarteners

Primary (Grades 1-3):

• Problem of the Week - Provides rich problems to solve in math for students grade 3 and up.

• Estimation 180 - Develops number sense through visual prompts and discussions.

Junior (Grades 4-6):

• TVO Mathify for students in grades 6-10

• MathFROG - Fun resources and online games

Virtual Math Manipulatives:

These are tools that the kids might use in class to help to visualize, manipulate, and solve problems.

• Toybox - geoboards, fraction strips, base ten blocks, clocks, area/perimeter, spinners, dice, stopwatch, pattern blocks, tangrams, and more!

• Mathies Learning Tools - Provides concrete learning experiences using virtual math tools on a tablet or PC.

• NLVM - virtual tools organized by grade and math strand.
