There are many ways to provide students creative opportunities in our classrooms for assessments on Shakespeare. Here are a few examples:
The Dozens of Romeos Project
Divide up students into groups and assign a set of pages/lines of the play and have them record a performance of those lines. The teacher then will stitch a full play together from the disparate performances.
Podcasting Analysis
Using laptop or cell phone microphones students create a team analysis of a scene and discuss its themes, ideas, and connections. Encourages communication and elaboration. Setting a long recording minimum (10-15 minutes) helps to draw out conversations.

Social Post Plays
Having your students develop social media posts as a character for a play is nothing new, but Tim Belmont from New Jersey developed a platform called Fair Verona Twither, a close network for posting as characters from the play. You can learn more about his process and how to develop your own version on his blog.
