Welcome to the 74th PCTM Annual Conference! Our rotation of venue locations brings us to the Harrisburg Area this year. The Best Western Premier Central Hotel & Conference Center is a new venue for PCTM, one we hope to return to in five years in our new rotation of venues for the PCTM Annual Conference. We are in Pittsburgh for 2026 to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of PCTM, and in the center of Historic Lancaster for 2027.
During the past few decades, in which I have attended the PCTM Annual Conference every year, I have never ceased to be amazed at the way the planning falls into place and a spectacular conference unfolds like a beautify bloom. As Conference Planning Committee Chair and a Past Conference Chair, I held a front row seat to the planning and the joy of watching the conferences come to be. Your Conference Committee Members have worked long hours over a year in advance to prepare for this conference, one I hope you will find valuable and rewarding. I am very grateful to these people for both them and their service to PCTM. One of my favorite things about the conference is the face-to-face interaction that takes place and the sharing of educational practices which positively influence the success of the students we teach. Friendships bud and are renewed! The networking that takes place between attendees, speakers, and vendors revitalizes our passions and energizes us as we look towards a new school year and the students we will teach.
The PCTM General Membership Meeting will be held on Thursday, July 24th in the ballroom, Central ABC, at 4:20-4:50 PM. This meeting is for you, the members of PCTM, and we encourage you to attend. A report on the activities of the Council this past fiscal year will be presented along with a time for you to ask questions and share with the Board Members. Please feel free to offer your input on the agenda items during the meeting.
There is an Information Card listing ways in which you can be of service to PCTM in your attendee bag. If interested, please fill out the card and leave it in the basket at the Registration Table. And, please allow me, the PCTM Board Members and our Keynote Speakers to greet you and speak to you individually sometime during the conference.
Have a great time at the conference and a wonderful new school year this fall!

PCTM President
Welcome to the 2025 Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of Mathematics Annual Conference at the Best Western in Harrisburg! I am excited to join with educators from across the state and neighboring states who see mathematics as a bridge to future opportunities for all students. The theme of this year’s conference is “Math in Motion: Engaging Minds through Exploration and Discovery”. Exploration and discovery is at the heart of learning mathematics. Puzzling, looking for patterns, getting stuck and unstuck, and collaboration are all part of the process that unlocks the beauty that can be found within mathematics. You are here because you want to find more ways to help students have those lightbulb moments that happen as a result engaging minds through exploration and discovery.
The conference committee has spent multiple hours over the past year to create a conference program that has a variety of speakers who will share ideas that you can use to help your students become more engaged in the exploration and discovery used to encourage mathematical thinking. Our primary goal is that you leave the conference feeling empowered to share ideas with your colleagues and to put the new ideas you have learned into practice with your students. Our second goal is that you renew old connections and make new connections with fellow educators. How often are you in a room filled with others who share your passion for math education? We hope you use this rare opportunity to grow your personal network.
Save the Date: The 75th PCTM Annual Conference will be held at DoubleTree Pittsburgh - Greentree on August 5 - August 7, 2026. Our keynote speakers will include Bob Lochel and Fawn Nguyen. These speakers will share ideas grounded in their extensive work with students and math educators, giving us ideas we can put into action in our own classrooms.
I am greatly appreciative of the 2025 Annual Conference Committee for their dedication to creating an amazing conference, including the program, vendors, menu planning, registration logistics, publicity, and working with our host site. This was no small task and required the work of over a dozen people. PCTM is always in need of more enthusiastic educators with fresh ideas and we invite you to join our planning committee to make the 75th annual conference extra special. The easiest way to do that is to email us at pctm@pctm.org. We hope you enjoy the conference!
