*Be Safe! *Be Kind! *Be Responsible!
Dear Parents,
It’s finally that time to jump back into the pool! This program is primarily designed to teach water safety. We use both the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program and materials from AMSEA- The Alaska Marine Safety Education Association.
Students also benefit from the pool program as an addition to the physical education program alternating every other week, improving fitness, coordination, and teamwork. Research shows that by providing physical activity for a minimum of 30 min. During the school day that there is a direct correlation to higher academic test scores.
Students Need:
1. SWIM SUIT & TOWEL… please mark with students name or initials. If you need help getting swim suits &/or towels please let me know and I will help.- please don’t send big heavy towels they don’t dry overnight.
2. LONG HAIR… TIED BACK, BRAIDED OR IN A SWIM CAP. It is sooo much easier to breath with hair out of the way and with our tight schedule we don’t have time to shampoo.
3. GOGGLES.. are not necessary. If your child falls off a boat or dock they probably won’t be wearing goggles- but if your student wants to bring a pair or use a pair that is welcome
4. Tights!… Please avoid putting your child in tights on swim days, as you can imagine it adds a whole new level of difficulty getting dressed after swim class!
Parents: Please feel free to come watch your swimmer any time during the course of this year and see their improvements!
