Q: Will my child have higher chance to be allocated a CCA that he/she has been involved in since pre-school?
A: During the P3 Actual CCA Selection (by students) and Allocation (by CCA department) Exercise, all students have the same opportunity to get his/her 1st choice CCA, regardless of prior experience/ training. In the event whereby a CCA is oversubscribed (the number of students applying for the same CCA as their 1st choice is more than the pre-set quota which is needed to ensure safety during CCA trainings), then the CCA department will conduct a round of balloting for this CCA. Students who do not get their 1st choice CCA will be allocated their other choices CCAs, depending on the availability of vacancy after the 1st round of allocation.
Benefits of taking part in a CCA
Updated on 27 March 2023, 1.55pm
Q: What are the benefits of taking part in a CCA in school?
A: CCA plays a key role in students' holistic development. It is a great platform where students develop a stronger and positive character in authentic settings. Through participation in meaningful CCA activities, students will get the opportunity to interact with peers from other classes and even across levels. As the students progress to higher levels, they will also have the chance to hone their leadership skills and even take up leadership roles in their CCAs. In short, CCA is the unique school programme that our students can forge greater sense of belonging and identity as they create fond school memories together. For more information on CCA, you may visit MOE CCA website.

Q: May I know is there any point system for CCA and can be use for PSLE later?
A: There is no point system to be used for PSLE, as compared to the ones in Secondary School and Junior Colleges. However, students who have strong passion and potential in an interest area (e.g. Basketball) may want to further pursue that interest in a secondary school which offer this as one of its CCAs under the DSA pathway. You may wish to research more on this via the DSA MOE website.
Switching of CCAs
Updated on 23 May 2023, 10.40 a.m.
Q: When can my child change his/her CCA?
A: All students are encouraged to stick to their CCAs as they progressively learn new skills and knowledge across different levels in the same CCA. However, if a change is required, the best time to make the change is at the end of the year so that students can start afresh in the new CCAs in the following year. Do note that if a student changes/quits his/her CCA in any point of time in the year, the CCA records (attendance and involvement) for that year will erased from the school cockpit system. Do kindly note that the school strongly discourage P6 students from changing / quitting their CCAs as they will be released from their CCAs officially at the end of Term 2 except for special cases. To apply for changing of CCA, please do so via the online form.

Q: What are the school procedures for my child to change/quit his/her CCA?
A: Your child will have to approach his/her current CCA teachers to have a discussion on the intended change so that the teacher can help to advise if the change is suitable. Then fill up and submit the online form. The CCA department will review the the request with the child's current CCA teachers before supporting / declining the request via email. Upon approval, your child's new CCA teachers will contact you / your child to provide information on the reporting time and venue for the 1st session.
External CCA (Non-school based CCAs)
Created on 23 May 2023, 10.40 a.m.
Q: Can students take External CCAs (Non-school based CCAs) to replace CCAs in school?
A: All students are allowed to take up enrichment classes to explore and/or build their talent areas. However, the main objectives of school based CCAs include character development and social interaction among CCA members. Thus, we strongly encourage our P3 to P6 students to take up a school based CCA for a fuller primary school learning experience.
Q: Can students use records from their External CCAs for schools to print in the Co-curriculum results slips?
A: No, all co-curriculum datas to be recorded and/or printed in results slips must be linked to school-based CCA planned activities. However, students who are involved in the external CCAs are encouraged to keep records of their attendance, activities, achievements etc which could be attached into the online portfolio collection section for DSA-Sec application.
Selection of CCA student leaders
Updated on 27 March 2023, 1.55pm
Q: How are the CCA student leaders selected?
A: All CCA student leaders are chosen by their CCA teachers and coaches (if any) usually after several rounds of discussions, and at times, with the feedback of the other CCA members taken into serious considerations. The panel will adopt a holistic approach: looking at students' attitude and behaviours during CCA sessions, observing their interactions with other students, making projections using students' attendance rate and inovlvement in CCA events/ activities, etc. Potential CCA Student leaders will be invited to attend the P5 Student Leadership Camp whereby the students will be engaged in games-like situations and accessed for their suitability in leading a CCA team.
