Hydroponic System is a system of growing crops without soil, often called soilless farming. In the hydroponic system, the plant roots grow in a liquid nutrient solution or inside the moist inert materials like Rockwool and Vermiculite. The liquid nutrient solution is a mixture of essential plant nutrients in the water.

My PG students Ms Rajalakshmi (2019-2020) and Ms Manjiri(2020-2021) have worked with me on Hydrophonic farming. We could develop a prototype with Tomato plan and Fenugreek plant. Fuzzy logic, Convolution Neural network were used to track the health of plant.

In this approach, a low cost and efficient Hydroponics System was developed for the Fenugreek vegetables. As this vegetable is a leafy vegetables and is most commonly consumed in India. So it's important to protect and prevent this vegetables from disease at a very early stage. This hydroponics system, consists of ten plants. Image feature extraction was done on this leaves. And based on these features the values like Chlorophyll and Nitrogen were extracted and therefore the classification was performed. Deep learning approaches like CNN and MLP was used in the first stage. While in the second stage the features of the images were extracted by making use of TSBTC algorithm. Hence, the values of chlorophyll and nitrogen was extracted from the same.
