On January 25, 2022, a newspaper article was published about the world’s first shark bite-resistant wetsuit, made by Shark Stop. Was this the end of shark bite danger? Is the science-fiction of the hit movie Jaws just another one of our creative imaginings?
The Shark Stop wetsuit, made by Haydon Burford, is made out of the brand new polymer nanofibre which took four years to perfect. Research has proved the remarkable Shark Stop fabric can withstand a good amount of force. On even the most severe bites it will only escape with small pin-prick size punctures.
You might be thinking that the wetsuit must be super stiff like steel to prevent shark bites—that isn’t true. While protecting you, the suit is still comfortable and flexible. Although this is great, nothing can come without a risk, there could still be “potentially be issues we have not come across yet”. Like most items, there could be delays due to supply chain shortages.

Let me guess, you’re reading this expecting to hear about a gross bug that crawls into your ear and eats your brain, right? WRONG!
Earworms are much less disgusting and a lot more common. Have you ever had a really annoying snippet of a song stuck in your head? That is called an earworm. These may last for 15-30 seconds, but for some people it goes on up to an hour, or even longer!
Common earworms in the past have been Disney Frozen's “Let it Go," Pharrell Williams' “Happy," Queen's “We Are The Champions," Carly Rae Jepsen's “Call Me Maybe," and, you guessed it, Disney Encanto's “We Don’t Talk About Bruno."
Why do you get these annoying earworms in the first place? When you hear a song over and over, specific memories relating to the song, your mood and stress level, a wandering mind, and having OCD traits all trigger earworms.
I bet you didn’t know there was a cure for this mystical “disease” called earworms, but there surprisingly is! You can temporarily get rid of earworms by reading, playing a video game, playing a sport, exercising, or doing anything that is engaging. The goal is to make all of your energy focus on that one activity.
