The PEAL (Parent Education & Advocacy Leadership) Center is an organization of parents/family members of children with disabilities and special health care needs and persons with disabilities who educate and guide:
— Families of children and youth, ages birth to 26, who have disabilities and/or special health care needs
— Professionals and others who work with children and youth who have disabilities and/or special health care needs
— Youth and young adults up to age 26 who have disabilities and/or special health care needs
The mission of the PEAL Center is to educate and empower families to ensure that children, youth and young adults with disabilities and special health care needs lead rich, active lives as full members of their schools and communities.
HUNE (Hispanos Unidos Para Ninos Excepcionales) works to improve educational outcomes for children and youth with all disabilities (emotional, learning, mental, and physical) from 0-26 years of age.
HUNE is a not for profit organization that provides free bilingual (English and Spanish) programs, supports, and services on all aspects of special education. HUNE’s programs include special education training and information, support, and limited individual assistance for youth with disabilities and families of exceptional children 0-26 years of age. HUNE also provides an after-school and summer program for youth 14-21 years of age.
Serving as a Community Resource Center, Mission Empower provides advocacy, education, and the promotion of inclusion, assisting families and their children with disabilities, serving Erie County PA , to enable their children to use their gifts and talents to reach their potential and become productive members of our community.
Mission Empower is seen as a catalyst in supporting families and organizations to successfully access the resources that will empower families and their children, so that all children and youth with disabilities utilize their talents to reach their potential and become productive members of the community.

Learn how FAMILIES TO THE MAX has inspired members and changed what’s possible for their children and ALL children in PA. Families share the impact of presuming competence and having high expectations for children with disabilities and special healthcare needs.

Navigating the world of special education for your child can be challenging and overwhelming at times. You are not alone. Families can access publications and other resources on topics pertaining to special education, such as advocacy, educational law, your and your child’s rights, presuming competence of your child, and collaborating effectively with school teams to improve outcomes. Whether your child is just beginning to receive special education supports or you are preparing your child to transition to post-secondary life, there is help available to assist you in navigating all stages of your child’s educational journey.
TRAINING COURSES FOR FAMILIES AND SCHOOL COMMUNITIES
Families to the MAX is pleased to offer foundational training courses to any group of families, community members, school staff, related service providers, or any combination thereof. These courses embody the Network’s beliefs that every child can achieve their maximum potential in their homes, schools, and communities. Sessions are typically one to two hours, free of charge, can be presented in person or virtually, and provide opportunities to meet and network with families, professionals, and local, regional, and statewide support agency representatives.
