CAST (home to UDL) is a multifaceted organization with a singular ambition: Bust the barriers to learning that millions of people experience every day. They do this by helping educators and organizations apply insights from the learning sciences and leading-edge practices to educational design and implementation. CAST's UDL framework combines current research from the fields of neuroscience, child development, and pedagogy to support teachers as they anticipate barriers and design learning environments without obstacles to learning.
Here are some initial readings, videos, and podcasts intended to ground and deepen our common understanding of UDL and its role in evolving high-quality core instruction in Tier 1 of a Multi-Tiered System of Support. Just like in a classroom, as learners, we all have different levels of familiarity with UDL and also have different areas of interest. The intention of this page is to provide teachers and administrators an opportunity to explore UDL before the 23-24 school year.
