As part of the Bangkok Patana School mission to offer a more sustainable tournament, we have undertaken a number of initiatives to develop our own event hosting schedules and present a tournament which reflect the future of our SEASAC organisation. The impact travel events have is well documented so ensuring we work to minimise this risk, has to remain a key focus alonside the incredible sporting indeavors of the students involved.
Medals and Trophies
In order to offer the SEASAC experience in full, we have opted for alternative celebratory offerings including Recycled plastic and wood trophies for both MVP winners and overall champions. There items have been ethically sourced in Thailand with companies we trust to deliver exceptional quality, with an eye on the environmental impact they have.
Food and Vendors
BPS is in the process of re-evaluating the vendors we use across our sports competitions and following the success of our valued partners at Feeding Frenzy in December, we will continue to work with a small number who share our values. We will be working in partnership with Get Fresh, a fantastic Vegan and Vegetarian company in Thailand to offer high quality, but also high energy foods throughout the weekend. Other vendors in attendance also fulfill our need to offer great food and drinks to our students with a close eye on locality and increased plant-based options.
No single use plastic
No single use plastic will be used in the event. Students need to use their own refillable drinking bottles for the event as none will be provided.
Energy
During the competition we will predominantly be outside however, as part of BPS directive to improve our own energy footprint, our own energy is being consumed via the solar panelling which can be seen on most buildings around the campus. This will have a positive impact on all indoor spaces as well as any power usage across the weekend.
