- On Winifred Pifer Elementary School's website, click on Technology
- Click on Computer Lab Resources
- Scroll down and find JiJi the Penguin
- Click on the link ST Math - Winifred Pifer
- Click on Jiji the Penguin in the house and enter in your password to get started!
Using ST Math® At Home
Dear Parents or Guardians:
With ST Math, students play computer games designed to teach math. They can play the games
at home on devices with internet access. We encourage you to have your child play the games to
review and practice the math skills learned in ST Math.
Your child’s teacher may assign ST Math games for homework. Please make sure only the child
with the ST Math account plays the games. Your child will access the program just as
he or she does at school.
In ST Math, the game puzzles start off simple and then get more challenging as the student
progresses. When they reach a challenging problem, your child should attempt the problem and
use the visual feedback provided to help them figure out why their answer did or did not work.
The feedback provided with each puzzle will help students figure out how to solve the problems.
If your child is struggling, help them by asking them questions about what they see happening
on the screen. You should not give your child the correct answer to get them past the game with
which they are struggling. The goal of ST Math is to promote problem solving.

Con ST Math, los estudiantes juegan videojuegos en la computadora diseñados
para enseñar matemáticas. Nosotros aconsejamos que usted deje a su hijo jugar los
videojuegos para revisar y practicar las habilidades matemáticas aprendidas en ST Math.
El maestro de su hijo puede asignarle juegos ST Math de tarea. Por favor, asegúrese de
que sólo el niño con la cuenta de ST Math juege el programa. Su hijo(a) tendrá acceso al
programa así como él o ella lo hace en la escuela.
En ST Math, los rompecabezas del programa comienzan sencillos y luego se ponen
más difícil, a como el estudiante progrese. Cuando llegue a un problema difícil, su hijo(a)
debería tratar el problema y utilizar la información visual proporcionada para ayudar
a averiguar por qué su respuesta trabajo o dejó de funcionar. La retroalimentación
(reacción) proporcionada con cada rompecabezas ayudará a los estudiantes encontrar la
manera de resolver los problemas.
Si su hijo(a) tiene dificultades, le puede ayudar facilitando preguntas acerca de lo que ve
que está pasando en la pantalla. Usted no debe darle a su hijo(a) la respuesta correcta
para conseguir que su hijo se adelante en el programa. El objetivo de ST Math es el de
promover la solución de problemas.
