Students cannot effectively learn if they don't feel loved, valued and heard. As a teacher, I understand that my students are children. They need positive reinforcement, words of affirmation and someone to validate their feelings. Our class is a family. We will laugh, get through tough times, learn to apologize and celebrate each other's wins. Children will ask questions, take risks and know that mistakes are okay when they know their teacher has their back. I will be your child's biggest cheerleader this year.Â
I believe that all students can. Students are capable of hard things. Students in my room are held to hard standards. There is no such things as they can't. As long as students know that I truly believe in them and their abilities, they will continue to grow to meet goals. This part of my philosophy goes hand and hand with valuing and loving students. Once that rapport is made, students let their guard down and put their trust into the teacher. Students will be pushed all year to reach their highest potential, academically and socially. I am here to help your child build their self confidence so they know, they CAN.
I will not pretend to be perfect. I will write the wrong math problem on the board. I will misspell a word while writing. I will miss a word during read-alouds. I will make sure students see those mistakes. Students feel comfortable to share their ideas or get help with their mistakes when they know that mistakes happen to everyone. Mistakes are proof that you are trying. Trying means that you are learning and care about trying to learn. Mistakes happen to everyone and that's okay!
