3rd Grade Schedule / Classroom Management

 Below you will find the positive incentives I use as well as how consequences are decided.

Bucket Filler

All students have a bucket hanging in the front of the room. Students can earn fuzz balls for being a bucket filler. What this means is they went above and beyond expectations without being asked.

 Examples of being a bucket filler

- Helping a classmate get caught up

- Being a leader in the classroom

- Taking a safe risk 

- Being on task

This is an individual system to promote kindness, hard work and positive praise. After 20 fuzz balls, students are able to cash in their fuzz balls for a prize.

Mona Geese-a

This is a whole class system that promotes collaboration, team work and social skills. Students will work together to help our classroom goose, paint the Mona Lisa. When the WHOLE class is working well together, working through a tough situation in an appropriate way, silent in the halls, etc. The goose will paint part of the Mona Lisa. Once the painting is done, the class will earn a whole class reward. PJ day, free time, choose their own seat for the day, only use pens, etc. I use this to reinforce soft skills that we are learning. 

Consequences

All actions have consequences, good and bad. I believe that consequences should directly relate with the action. For example, recess is something that students need to burn off steam. I will never just take away recess time. However, some consequences will require students to complete something during a part of recess, simply sitting out of recess isn’t something I will do. 

Student doesn’t complete homework..... We work through some of the problems during recess.

Student is disrespectful..... They will write an apology letter.

Student refuses to complete work... Student will not participate in fun activity.

All consequences will be followed with a one on one talk with me. After all, they are children who will know that I care about them and want the best for them.
