Communication Folders

Your child will be given a communication folder on the first day of school.  Please check this folder DAILY for important reminders, notes, and projects your child completes during the school day.  On the front of your child's folder, there will be a monthly behavior chart that will give you a quick glimpse on how their day went!  For the monthly behavior chart, if your child has received a sticker, then they had a good day!

Notes

If you have a note about an absence or change in dismissal, please send them in your child's communication folder to school.  We check folders every morning and send all notes and communication to the office prior to taking attendance for the day.

Meals

All meals are provided by the school district.  This includes breakfast, lunch, and a snack.  If your child has a food-related allergy, please let the nurse and your child's teacher know so that appropriate substitutions can be made.  Unlike in the other grades, since our meals are purchased through the Pre-K Counts Grant, the students will NOT be able to have the choice of white, chocolate, or strawberry milk; they will only be allowed to have white milk.

Spare Clothes

Spills and accidents happen and we would like to be prepared when and if they do!  Please make sure your child has a full spare change of clothes in their backpacks at all times.  This should included a shirt, pants, socks, and underwear.

Rest Time

Pre-K Counts requires all full-day classrooms to have a daily rest time.  During this time, children are allowed to have a small blanket with them; this blanket should be able to fit in the child's backpack easily when it is time for it to go home to be washed.  Each child is provided a plastic covered foam rest mat to use.

Birthdays

If you would like your child to bring in a treat for their birthday, please just let the teacher know ahead of time so that snack can be planned accordingly.

Volunteers

Parent volunteers are huge in helping the classroom succeed, especially during holidays and special events!  If you have all of your clearances on file with the main office, let your child's teacher know!

Class Dojo

We use Class Dojo to share images of activities we are doing in the classroom and to have an easy method of communication before, during, and after the school day.  While I do not typically respond outside of school hours, I will respond to any questions daily.  I have found this tool to help not only show you what our students are learning about easily, but also a way for families to quickly let me know if something is going on or just to check in on their child if they had a rough morning.  To find out how to register for this app, there is a link on the teacher page or you can reach out to me at any time and I can send you more information!
