Workshops

Region B Workshops are presented by middle school and high school students from Region B and will challenge, encourage, and motivate your students to improve their councils and schools. See below for a list of workshop descriptions for each age group.

Middle School

MS 01

The Invisible Maze

Are you good at remembering details, finding patterns, or solving problems? In this Invisible Maze, you'll have to find the hidden path through a 4 by 5 set of square tiles. But keep in mind, if you step on the wrong tile, you have to go to the back of the line.

MS 02

Peer Pressure

We will be explaining the causes and effects of peer pressure, the consequences, and how students get pressured into doing something bad.

MS 03

For the Love of Teamwork

Every day no matter what you are somehow involved in a team. It is important for you to know the correct way to act in those teams. In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to improve and further your knowledge of teamwork.

MS 04

It's OK to take RISKS

Often times, in our committees, we hesitate to say something or do something, for it is risky. In this workshop, we will run through numerous activities that will show students that risks are manageable.

MS 05

Confidence is Key

This workshop is about confidence in middle school, and how it can be boosted. It will also include things that you can do to fix confidence.

MS 06

Gryffindor vs. Slytherin: How Even the Most Different of People Can Work Together

In this workshop, you will learn how working together opposed to working solo will almost surely always create more effective results in any project or situation in life if you use the proper tools. You will learn helpful tips on working together and how even the most different of people can work together if you use said tips, just like Gryffindor and Slytherin, the two famous Hogwarts houses.

Delightfully De-Stress

De-stress in a calm environment. Take part in calm discussions and fun activities.

MS 08

Speaking with Confidence

This workshop is about being able to stand up in front of a group of people confidently. You will learn to have fun and not be as nervous when speaking in front of an audience.

Can You Beat the Clock (while keeping your cool)?

This interactive workshop focuses on helping you balance home life and school. Come have fun, be entertained, and walk away with a prized possession that will help keep you calm and focus even through the roughest of times.

High School

HS 10

When Compassion meets Understanding, Lives change

This workshop consists of a lesson on how to understand the viewpoints of your fellow peers. It provides information about compassion and how it can benefit everyone when you understand others.

HS 11

Good Vibes: Positivity in Leadership

In this workshop, council members will discuss how to approach other students and their student body with a positive mindset. Council members will leave this conference with a new sense of gratitude and skills to get other students involved and excited to participate.

HS 12

Building Bridges Between Administration and Students

In order to be an effective student council, trust and communication with administration at both the building and school district level are essential. This workshop will detail effective strategies to expand open channels of communication between students and building administration. Using strategies in use with North Allegheny Senior High School's Student Council, you will learn about different activities, initiatives, and steps you can take to serve as effective liaisons within your school and student body, with the result of becoming more effective leaders.

For the L.O.V.E. of Michael Buble

Do you love Christmas Music master, Michael Buble? We know we do! Come and learn a bit of what being passionate about leadership can look and sound like in our lives, and of course, rock out to Michael Buble himself!

This workshops focuses on how to effectively advertise events in your school.

Global Citizenship

Do you want to be an advocate for global change? This workshop provides information about NASSP, their Global Citizenship initiative, and how students can advocate for change.

Let’s Talk

A fun round table discussion inspired by the YouTube channel Jubilee. In this workshop, you will get to express your feelings on different topics and hear others opinions while learning to delegate an effective conversation.

HS 17

Learn to Love Ya Poppin’ Self

Our workshop is a way to let loose of all those insecurities with a simple pop! Learn how to understand and overcome your daily struggles while having fun doing it. Discover your poppin’ self through some fun activities and socializing that will leave you feeling better than ever before.

Have a Cup of Positivi-tea

In this workshop, we will be focusing on LOVING yourself. This workshop is fun, interactive, and positive! Within this workshop, we will work on self-love/self-care, transforming negative energy into positive energy, and turning your weaknesses into your strengths.

We're All In This Together

Trying new things and working with other people is never easy. Through team bonding activities and games, you will learn that working as a team is fun and simple!

We Love Creative Thinking

We will have different activities to help with creative thinking. These activities will help them and allow them to bring something back to their student council.

The Key to Communication

This workshop is being presented to help students with communication skills. We will do different fun activities to help you improve your communication skill, this could be a chance to meet new people and to build on to your relationships in your personal life.

B 22

The Fine ART of Communication

Students will be tested on their ability to effectively communicate with others. This fun activity will include an interactive partner exercise where students will use various communication skills to complete a task.

Lemonade Mouth

Learn how to use your voice in order to bring beneficial organizations to your school. Such as Mini-Thon, Toy Drives, Food Drives, and etc. Be heard, be strong, be proud we wanna hear your voice.

Breaking the Ice

During this workshop, we will be talking about the three levels of icebreakers. Getting to know new people is cool- IF you do it right. Join us to break the ice!

B 25

Popping Stereotypes

Popping Stereotypes is a workshop created to confront one of the largest concerns of this generation. Dismissing someone based on their age, religion, gender, ethnicity, etc. is too commonly found in everyday life and we are ready to pop it! Through various activities, videos, and discussions, we will confront the issue of stereotypes is everyday life and how to prevent this in our councils. Join us in Popping Stereotypes to ensure that everyone in your council has a chance to be a leader!
