During the wartime years an influx of volunteering emerged throughout the U.S. (Ex: Red Cross, Civilian Defense, Victory Corps, etc.).
These were sold and purchased to help finance military operations.
As farm workers were fighting World War II, the government encouraged citizens to plant their own fruits and vegetables to help in the effort to increase the food supply at home in order to provide for citizens domestically and troops abroad.
Women moved out of the domesticated roles and into the factories during wartime. as the war came to an end so did the ability for women to remain in the jobs they had gained during wartime.
During wartime they were able to work and participate in military positions. as wartime ended many ethnic minorities struggled to maintain jobs due to the return of soldiers from war.
