Early College High Schools were originally established to help first generation college goers and other underrepresented students, who might not otherwise go to college, get a jump start on their college degree. ECHS is open to ALL students who are motivated and willing to commit to a four year program, which begins in the summer before ninth grade. Students may participate in extracurricular activities at their high school as long as they maintain their grades. Students may also join clubs and organizations at San Jacinto College. It is helpful if the students are currently taking Pre-Advanced Placement classes in intermediate school, but it is not necessary. Enrollment decisions are not based on state assessment scores, discipline history, teacher recommendations, parent or student essays, minimum grade point average (GPA), or other criteria that create barriers for student enrollment.  

Las escuelas secundarias con universidad temprana se establecieron originalmente para ayudar a los estudiantes universitarios de primera generación y a otros estudiantes subrepresentados, que de otro modo no irían a la universidad, a obtener la opportunidad de un título universitario. ECHS está abierto a TODOS los estudiantes que estén motivados y dispuestos a comprometerse con un programa de cuatro años, que comienza en el verano antes del noveno grado. Los estudiantes podrán participar en actividades extracurriculares en su escuela secundaria siempre y cuando mantengan sus calificaciones. Los estudiantes también pueden unirse a clubs y organizaciones estudiantiles en San Jacinto College. Es útil si los estudiantes actualmente están tomando clases de Colocación Preavanzada en la escuela intermedia, pero no es necesario. Las decisiones de inscripción no se basan en puntajes de evaluaciones estatales, historial disciplinario, recomendaciones de maestros, ensayos de padres o estudiantes, promedio mínimo de calificaciones (GPA) u otros criterios que creen barreras para la inscripción de estudiantes.

ALL eighth grade students are eligible to apply. Students must submit the online application by the appropriate deadline. A committee will review the applications and then students are interviewed.  Students’ past performance will be examined, but academic, discipline, or attendance records will not be used to accept or deny students. Our goal is to enroll motivated and determined students that are willing to work hard and take advantage of this incredible opportunity.  

TODOS los estudiantes de octavo grado son elegibles para postularse. Los estudiantes deben enviar la solicitud en línea antes de la fecha límite correspondiente. Un comité revisará las solicitudes y luego los estudiantes son entrevistados.  Se examinará el desempeño anterior de los estudiantes, pero los registros académicos, disciplinarios o de asistencia no se utilizarán para aceptar o rechazar estudiantes. The ECHS cohort size is limited to 125-135 students, so that we can provide the necessary support to students.  If there are more applications than spaces available at a particular campus, then we will implement a lottery system.  Lottery numbers are computer generated and students will be accepted or placed on a waitlist according to the number they are assigned.

El tamaño del grupo de ECHS está limitado a 125-135 estudiantes, para que podamos brindarles el apoyo necesario.  Si hay más solicitudes que espacios disponibles en un campus en particular, implementaremos un sistema de lotería.  Los números de lotería se generan por computadora y los estudiantes serán aceptados o colocados en una lista de espera de acuerdo con el número que se les asigne.
