How was the theme chosen?
Choosing our yearbook theme was a deeply creative and collaborative process that reflected the spirit, identity, and experiences of PMHS. This year, the Mav Yearbook was inspired by the elegance and storytelling of the Met Gala and the Met Museum. We wanted to create something that felt timeless, expressive, and bold. Something that would honor the individuality of our students while showcasing the collective journey of our school year.
The process began with brainstorming sessions where yearbook staff explored cultural events, fashion,
art, and current youth movements. We asked ourselves: What defines this generation? What stories are
we telling? What moments deserve to be remembered? From there, we narrowed down ideas that could
be visually and emotionally powerful, yet flexible enough to guide our photography, writing, and
design choices.
Once the theme was selected, we began developing a visual identity that would support it. Every detail, from the cover design to the section layouts, will be built around this theme. It’s not just a title it’s a lens through which we will tell the story of the year. It's "Unveiled: An Exhibition of a Generation."
Why This Theme Matters to Our Generation
"Unveiled: An Exhibition of a Generation" resonates deeply with today’s students because it reflects a cultural shift toward authenticity, self-expression, and visibility. In a time when young people are redefining identity, challenging norms, and embracing individuality, this theme gives space for those stories to be told boldly and beautifully.
Our generation is constantly navigating the balance between being seen and being understood. This theme honors that journey. It’s not just about showcasing achievements or capturing memories, it’s about revealing the layers of who we are, what we value, and how we connect with the world around us.
By framing the yearbook as an exhibition, we elevate everyday moments into something worthy of reflection and admiration. It’s a reminder that every student has a story worth unveiling, and that together, we form a powerful, diverse, and unforgettable generation.
How the Theme Shapes the Cover and Why It Matters
The cover of "Unveiled: An Exhibition of a Generation" is more than a design, it’s a declaration. It’s the first moment a reader encounters the heart of the book, and it was created to feel like the entrance to a personal exhibit. Every detail, from the textures to the typography, was chosen to reflect the idea that each student is worthy of being seen, remembered, and celebrated.
This theme is about people—the faces, voices, and stories that define our school year. We wanted the yearbook to feel like something you could pick up decades from now and still feel connected to because it doesn’t just capture events; it captures essence. It’s a book that curates identity, emotion, and growth.
"Unveiled" matters because it reflects how our generation values authenticity. It’s a tribute to being real, being vulnerable, and being proud of who we are. Each student is a centerpiece in the gallery of our lives. We feel that we have created something that invites reflection, admiration, and connection.
It’s not just a yearbook. It’s a museum of moments. We're unveiling a generation. This is our exhibition. Unapologetic. Unfiltered. Unveiled.
