Ms. Walker’s Class Procedures for Special Topics/Electives (Revised 5.10.21)

1. Required Materials/Technology for Class

This is a paperless class. All work for the class will be completed and submitted electronically. You will need earbuds to listen to lectures. You need to have the following resources downloaded to your computer (should be done during onboarding):

Schoology

Schoology lockdown browser

PDF viewer

Outlook (to communicate with teacher)

Google Suite (Google Drive)

Google Chrome

Edmentum (Go to login.edmentum.com and bookmark the website to your favorites for easy access. You will use this website daily.)

Please let Ms. Walker know if you for some reason do not have some of these items!

2. Student Procedures for Class:

· How to Begin Working and Daily Tasks

1. Make sure you have the correct course code for the Schoology course you have been assigned. See Ms. Walker for course codes.

* NEVER log into or work on a course that you have not been assigned by one of your Community School teachers!

2. Log into Schoology daily.

3. Check your messages/notifications daily.

· Completing the Class

1. You must complete this class in order.

2. All assignments in Schoology- including notes, labs, and discussion boards are mandatory.

3. You will be taking notes as you follow along with the Edmentum tutorials. There are questions/warm-ups/activities throughout the tutorials that you have to answer in order to move on. You will submit the notes once you finish them.

4. You may use your notes on checks for understanding/quizzes/ mastery tests/game reviews/ discussion boards, etc. These activities are unlocked and may be taken on your own time once you finish a section.

· Tests

Special Topics- there will be a quiz at the end of every unit. These MUST be taken in class with me only! They will be locked and you will not be able to access them until you have completed everything and turned in your notes. (*Yes, you will be allowed to use your notes on your tests.)

3. How do I complete the course/get my report card?

· Once you have completed all required course work, Ms. Walker will complete your grades, submit a grade form to Mrs. Capra/Ms. Elliott, and email you a copy of the form. You do not have to turn anything in to them. They will then contact you to place you in your next class as needed.

4. How do I get in touch with Ms. Walker if I have questions?

· Please email me at kwalker@pasadenaisd.org between 8 AM and 4 PM with any questions you have. If you email after those times, please understand I will not respond until the next business day.
