In the unit ‘Not in this Day and Age’ you are reading the novel The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
The author has created a representation of context and history (WWII and The Holocaust).
Ideas and events in the novel can be interpreted from different points of view, which affect the way the audience understands the plot, characters and themes of the novel.
TASK: Monologue (20 marks)
Your task is to write and record a scripted monologue (transcript) from the point of view of ONE (1) minor character from the novel provided on the list below:

Your monologue must be 500-600 words in length.
It should address how your character feels and reacts to ONE important event in the novel.
You should also write about their prior life and context.
You must embed between ONE (1) and THREE (3) direct quotes from your character in your monologue.
You will video record yourself reading and presenting your script
The recording must be between 3:30 and 4:30 minutes.

speak as the character - use first person (use "I" eg. I walked into the kitchen, I felt sad when...)
use language that is appropriate and believable for your character
focus on ONE event so you can explore the character's thoughts, feelings & reactions in detail.
reveal why the event is significant and its impact on yourself and others
demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the plot and context of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
use appropriate facial expression, body language and voice (pace/tone) to represent your character
