As part of the teaching and learning of the Religious Education Curriculum in CEDP schools, students focus on a number of scriptural passages. When unpacking scripture, the students look at the LITERAL, SPIRITUAL and APPLICATION senses to gain a deeper understanding of the scripture.
The Literal Sense allows students to gain an understanding of who was in the scripture, where and when the scripture took place and what happened. This provides students with the skills to recall and identify key parts of the scripture. Students then use the Spiritual Sense to understand how this scripture reflects our Catholic traditions, with links to Sacraments and our school Mercy Values. Through the Application Sense, students then discuss, give examples and undertake experiences that allow them to apply the teachings of the scripture to their life.
