Divide the class into even groups. Each group is to pick a different issue in sport. Each group will complete a research activity including the following information and present in two lessons.

Your presentation must include:

Historical perspective:

• overview of the issue (what is the issue? When did this issue become a problem? Why is it an issue?)

• events that have raised the profile of the issue (identify and discuss the impact of significant historical events related to your issue)

Impact of the issue:

• positive and negative effects/ implications (think about athletes, spectators and the community). 

• actions taken to address the negative impact of your issue (what strategies have been designed to manage the impact of this issue?)

• current state of the issue

Ethical implications:

• examine the ethical and legal implications associated with your issue

Future perspectives:

• examine existing strategies and propose additional strategies to promote positive outcomes in relation to the issue
