Students can advocate for issues with their school. An example of this would be…
As a class, you are required to design an advocacy strategy to get a specific year group involved in lunchtime activity.
As a class work your way through the following:
Brainstorm a minimum of 10 ideas (games/sports) that you would be interested in running at lunch.
As a class, come to an agreement and pick one idea from your brainstorm. This game/sport is going to be what you will run during one designated lunchtime.
Create a plan for the day which outlines the following:
Where will the activities/game take place within the school?
What equipment will be needed to carry out the activities?
What support will be required for this event?
How will this event be promoted?
Create an infographic that could be hung up in homerooms to raise awareness
Assign each student in the class a role i.e. collect equipment, set up, pack up, promote activity to homerooms, create infographics, umpire, explanation of the game, scorer, demonstration, team captain etc.
Using the "Get Out and Get Active" pamphlet as a stimulus, design an advocacy strategy to get Year 7 involved in a lunchtime activity.
