Read the passages in your textbook (pg. 35 - 40) on postnatal issues and then examine the scenarios in the google doc below.
In groups of 2-3 pick one of the real scenarios below and discuss the importance of postnatal follow-up and strategies that a new mother can implement in order to prevent or avoid postnatal issues. Be sure to discuss:

Examine the types of behaviours to avoid if postnatal issues are evident (e.g. such as in postnatal depression).
a. Imagining you are the new mother in your chosen scenario, take the 'Mental Health Checklist' quiz according to the identified postnatal issues in your scenario. Take note of the results and follow up-advice. Make summary dot points on what your score means, what is advised to do and who you can contact.
2. b. Create a checklist for the mother in your chosen scenario, of protective behaviours that can be implemented during the prenatal and postnatal period in order to avoid the issues identified in your chosen scenario.
