This program is undertaken for 5 weeks in Term 1 of the year to introduce our students to the world of work within a range of construction careers. Students primarily learn how to apply their newly found skills to job sites and develop a growth mindset with the ultimate goal of getting signed up into a School Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship.

Work Experience
CathWest Trade Readiness Year 10 students have the unique chance to explore a variety of career paths through six one-week self-sourced work experience placements throughout the year. This hands-on experience allows students to try different trades and industries, providing realistic insights into potential future careers. By exposing students to diverse work environments, we aim to help them make informed decisions about their educational and career pathways. Work experience is an excellent opportunity for students to develop essential workplace skills and gain confidence.

MyWorkExperience is a fun way for students to prepare for placement and will be completed as a class activity.
Students will be asked to create an account, then complete My Work Experience modules and obtain a completion certificate. The links are accessible through the student portal>Trade Readiness tab.

Receive Student Placement Record (SPR) from Julie You will get 3 copies -Keep, Return, Employer
Sign and return Copy 1 to Julie It must be signed by student (page 1) and parent (page 4)
Fill in your Work record book each day Bring it back to Julie till next block
Work Experience To Do List
At least 2 weeks before Receive paperwork via email and paper copy from Julie
At least 1 week before Submit your SPR signed by you and a parent to Julie or email it to jharb12@parra.catholic.edu.au
The week leading up Reach out to your supervisor to introduce yourself and get day one instructions
First day of work experience Bring your Student Placement Record (SPR) to your employer for signing. (page 3)
When you return to school Return the copy of the SPR signed by the employer, your parent and yourself to Julie
