Step 2: Find local businesses

Find local businesses that are relevant to your passion interest area. 

Step 3: Network with friends and family

Network with friends and family to find opportunities to explore your passion area. These can include casual employment, business mentoring, integrated work experiences, internships and workplacement.  

Step 4: Develop a script

Develop a script to say to businesses that is professional and informative. Click here to view the below guide on calling a business.

Step 5: Prepare yourself for a business meeting.

Step 6: Complete the Request Work Experience Request Form

The work experience documentation will be organised and emailed to your host employer. Students will receive a Student Placement Record to be signed by parents/guardian and student.

Step 7: Collect your copies of the Student Placement Record from the Industry Office and take home for completing and signing by your parent/guardian. Then one signed copy to the Industry Office to Julie Harb. 

Step 8: Contact your host employer prior to starting to confirm your attendance, hours and where to go.

Step 9: Take your signed Student Placement Record with you and hand in to your host employer. Take initiative, be enthusiastic, safe and be thankful to your supervisor.

Australian Catholic University (ACU) STEP UP INTO TEACHING 2026/2027

​The Step Up into Teaching course is a continuing partnership between CSPD and the Australian Catholic University that has seen many of our students undertake university study towards a teaching qualification while at school.

The SUIT course for 2026/27 will be delivered at the ACU Strathfield campus during July 2026 and January 2027 school holidays.

ACU will hold an information evening on Tuesday 5 May 2026 at the Strathfield Campus - 25 Barker Road Strathfield for interested Year 11 students and parents/carers. It is compulsory for you to attend this information night in person as part of the enrolment process.
