Before the 2023 school year begins, teaching staff will administer the Mathematics Assessment Interview with all our students including our new Kindergarten students. This numeracy assessment identifies individual students’ and whole grades’ Mathematical knowledge and understanding and involves a teacher asking a series of problems within counting, place value, addition and subtraction, and multiplication and division. This valuable, comprehensive assessment has been our practice for many years. It is designed to help us understand and meet the needs of your child in relation to Mathematics education.

The one on one (teacher and student) Mathematics Assessment Interview (MAI) takes approximately 30-40 minutes to administer. Administering this during learning time can be a complex situation. As a result, the administration of these tests, will be undertaken on the first three days of 2023. To facilitate this, parents are required to book their Kindergarten child in for an interview on either Monday 30th January, Tuesday 31st January or Wednesday 1st February 2023. These assessments will take place with your child’s grade teacher or learning support teacher in their 2023 learning space. This is also an opportunity for your child to get to know their new teacher.

The information gathered during these interviews will be analysed and utilised by class teachers in the teaching and learning of Mathematics.

We will be using the school interviews website to make bookings online. We recommend that families with children in other grades make their bookings at the same time as booking for your Kindergarten child so that all of your children can be interviewed at the same time.

When using the booking site you will need to select Kindergarten as your child’s grade. Choose a suitable time with any of the available teachers listed, as all teachers on that list will be working with children in that grade. Bookings can be made towards the end of December. You will receive a letter outlining the code to enter in the site.

When you click finish your interview timetable will be emailed to you automatically - check your junk mail folder if you do not receive your email immediately. You can return to https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/ at any time and change your interviews, until bookings close.

Parents can change their interview bookings anytime prior to the closing date, by revisiting the https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/ website and using the event code.

Remember to use the same name and email address that you used when you made your original booking. Parents wishing to change their interview times after the closing date should contact the school via email on stpatsguildford@parra.catholic.edu.au
