A guy comes to meet with a director for a job. When he was on the phone the director says “I have something for you.” It is a diary/journal about a guy that had worked in the office and had recently died.
An orphan whose parents died in a fire is living with this doctor. One night a caller comes bringing an interesting creature. The creature was on top of a dead girl.
The doctor(Doctor Warthrop) and the boy(Will Henry) are up very late working on the creature. The next day they go on a mission to a cemetery.
They go to a cemetery and get attacked by Anthropophagi. The caller/grave robber comes with them but dies because the Anthropophagi grabbed him. Will Henry tried to save him but started to get taken down to so the doctor had to blow up the caller/grave robber.
They return home and the doctor starts doing research. Will Henry has to deliver a bunch of letters . That night they leave for a place called Dedham.
The doctor and Will Henry are preparing to leave on another mission. This time they are going to Dedham to meet with a person named Captain Varner.
Will Henry and the doctor go to dedham to meet with dr. Star who is treating Captain Varner. They ask Captain Varner about Anthropophagi.
They return from Dedham. Will Henry goes to the market and talks with a store owner about the doctor. The doctor and Will Henry have a fight about his hat because he lost it and it was his only thing left from his parents. Will Henry says that he hates the doctor.
The Anthropophagi killed another family but one boy survived (malachi). They are trying to figure out what is happening.
Malachi comes back with the head of police and the doctor has to tell him everything. In the middle of the night another person comes to the door.
Dr. Kearns arrives and uses code names like cory for himself. He does not believe the doctors idea about how the Anthropophagi got there. He thinks the doctors father brought them here.
They go out to kill the anthropophagi. The fire that killed Will Henry’s parents was started because his dad had worms and used a log to relieve pain and he caught on fire. They kill the anthropophagi But the babies and mom aren’t there.
They go to hunt the anthropophagi matriarch and her babies. Will Henry Is used as bait to try and lure out the matriarch. Then a huge fight happens and Will Henry waits for her to get close enough and shoots her in her brain and she dies.
They meet with doctor Star and he tells them everything about how the doctor’s father brought them here and fed them and took care of them. Doctor Kearns kills Doctor star by twisting his neck. At the end Will Henry gets a new hat as a present for the doctor.
