Hermione Granger is another one of Harry’s best friends at Hogwarts. She is known across the school for being very intelligent and being the teacher’s pet. Because of this, she plays a very useful role in the story, helping Harry with the Triwizard Tournament and with his life in general.
Throughout the story, Hermione works to fight for the rights of house-elves, establishing that she is equitable to everyone. Even when no one else is interested in her efforts, she never gives up and is very determined. Not only does she never give up in her efforts to promote the rights of house elves, but she also tries to figure out how to get Rita Skeeter, a local article writer for the Daily Prophet (the wizarding newspaper) in trouble. Rita Skeeter has always been writing untrue, hurtful, and embarrassing stories about Hermione and her friends, one of which led Hagrid, the Hogwarts gamekeeper and one of Harry’s friends, to be discriminated against around the area because Rita Skeeter revealed that he was half-giant, which often meant that that person is dangerous and ruthless. However, Hermione notices that Rita Skeeter somehow always finds secret information that no one ever shared with her, which makes Hermione very suspicious and leads her to figure out that Rita Skeeter is an unregistered Animagus (someone who can transform into an animal), and used her ability to hide and eavesdrop on others.
