They are in a new house that they moved to because of Bruno’s dad’s job. They are probably in the 1940s. Their society is like a place where there is no other things and houses next to the new house, so it is basically lonely. The tone of Bruno’s world is probably sad in the start and good at the end. Their world represents being lonely and making a lot of friends and having a fun life In a brand new place.
