This is a camp that seems pretty normal in that you do activities and have cabins but the activities are very different in sword fighting, but in every other way it is different. It is a place that they are able control the weather so it is mostly sunny but when they lose that control and it is stormy frequently that shows a shift in the tone from happy and fun to sad and mad with the anger that Thalia's tree was poisoned. The people mostly get along with some occasional competition and it is a mostly friendly environment.
Percy and Annabeth sail on this ship after they escape Circe's island and until Polyphemus destroyed it at the end of the book. Even though they are not on the ship for a long time it plays a big part in Percy’s growth because it is the first ship that he can control just by pure will. This makes it a very comfortable place for Percy, being in an ocean where he knows exactly where they are and on a ship that he can completely control it means he is totally in control something that he does not get to experience a lot in this book.

The theme of the book “The Sea of Monsters” by Rick Riordan is you should always appreciate your family. I know this because in the book Percy says ‘“He’s not my real brother’ I protested whenever Tyson wasn't around” he didn’t want to admit it because he was embarrassed. This action caused his punishment (his guilt) because if he had appreciated Tyson when they were in camp then later when Tyson died he wouldn't have felt guilty that he denied that they were siblings. I know that he felt guilty because in the book he said, “The last thing I remember was sinking in a burning sea, knowing that Tyson was gone forever, and wishing I was able to drown.” And, “He’d given his life for us and all I could think about was all the times I’d felt embarrassed by him or denied that we were related”. If Percy had appreciated Tyson then he wouldn't have regretted his decisions about how bad their relationship was; Percy denying that Tyson was his brother and them not being close and he would be a lot happier in the long run and guilt-free. Later at the end of the book Percy tells the whole camp that Tyson is his brother and is not ashamed of it and thanks Tyson in private before that. Percy said that he was thankful for Tyson and Tyson gifted him the watch/shield that made them win the chariot race. The effect of Percy being thankful of Tyson is they were closer and Tyson gave him a shield that would be very useful. If Percy had been mean to Tyson then Tyson would have felt bad and not given him the watch, making them lose the race. All of this proves that the theme of the book is you should always treasure your family.
