Setting
The general places in the book vary depending on the specific chapter. For example in the beginning of the book the general setting is her house and I would say there is about one more which is her job. One other setting I will include is the bank, I chose this because one of the biggest parts of the book happens here. For her house, there isn't much action at her house besides Jess opening up to Jess. I wouldn't say there was anything out of the ordinary with her house besides the fact that her parents (Shmasher and Shockwave) live there. The big event that happened in the bank was the battle between Captain Orion and "M" And the biggest setting/ the most important setting in the book would be Monroe industries which is where Abby/ M and Jess worked.
Jess
Jessica Tran (Jess for short) is the main character in the book Not Your Sidekick and in the book her current want is to know if her best friend and crush Abby if she also likes girls but her current problem is that she doesn't want to ruin their friendship or make her uncomfortable but most importantly to her not give away the fact that she's her crush. Her want in the beginning is to determine if she has or doesn't have powers and then why or why she doesn't have them.
Abby
Abby is the main character crush and friend in the book Not Your Sidekick in the book she plays her part as Jessica’s friend and crush but also throughout the book plays a secret Identity (M, the cover-up for Master Mischief)
The theme of the book is Mistaken Identity and Don't Keep Secrets from the People You Trust I say this because Abby kept a secret from Jess and Jess Ended up figuring out the secret in the wrong way The bad thing caused punishment is because since Abby kept the secret that she was M it almost ended their friendship because she always had to cover up for herself instead of telling the truth If Abby told the truth then they wouldn’t have had to go through all the trouble one way that its mistaken Identity is because she didn't know how to ask Abby about her sexuality which caused further problems throughout the book.
