In the Book not Your Sidekick by C.B Lee the claim is to never keep things from people you trust. Abby kept a secret from Jess, The way the bad thing cause punishment is because since Abby kept the secret that she was M it almost ended their friendship because she always had to cover up for herself instead of telling the truth. Abby ended up figuring out the secret in a bad way. If Abby told the truth then they wouldn’t have had to go through all the trouble of thinking she's lying. Abby told Jess that shes M, When she told Jess that she was M Jess had a deeper understanding of why she was “avoiding her” at work and everywhere else, causing them to maintain and improve their relationship. Instead of them losing their friendship they learned more about each other and figured out that Jess was insecure about asking people about their sexuality. If she didn’t tell her then Jess wouldn’t have understood why she was getting ignored. Which bring me back to my claim, in the Book Not Your Sidekick by C.B Lee the claim is to never keep things from people you trust.
The book Not your sidekick by C.B is about a Lgbtq asian american girl named Jessica Tran. Her problem is although her parents both have powers and her sister she still doesn't, and that means she needs to find a decent job. This book is mainly about identity. If your interested in more of a investment type book (meaning you have to wait longer for more action) I think this would be a good fit.
