Chapter #46 begins the next morning. Jenna has just woken up and decides to see the Dragon Boat. As she sits next to the boat, she sees the exhausted Apprentice who has escaped from the sunken Vengeance. They bring him in the cottage, but when Marcia arrives back from her morning walk, he tries to steal the Akhu Amulet. Marcia uses Magyk to send the Apprentice back to the sunken Vengeance. This is where the chapter ends.
In Chapter #47, Jenna, Nicko, Boy 412, and Zelda question why Marcia sent the Apprentice off to the Vengeance. She shows them a sight she saw on her morning walk that explains her suspicions. The real Apprentice has been Consumed by DomDaniel- the Apprentice that Marcia had sent to the Vengeance was really DomDaniel in disguise! When they return to the cottage, Marcia calls Boy 412 over and makes an ExtraOrdinary Wizard Apprentice Notebook for him. Boy 412 tells Marcia how he got the ring, and Marcia tells him about how he is the new Dragon Master of the Dragon Boat. The chapter ends as Boy 412 finally agrees to become Marcia’s Apprentice.
In Chapter #48, Aunt Zelda heals the Consumed Apprentice with her White Witch potions. Inside the cottage, everyone is preparing for the Apprentice supper, which binds the Apprentice with the ExtraOrdinary Wizard for seven years and a day. As Marcia, Zelda, Alther, Jenna, Nicko, Boy 412, Maxie, Simon, Sarah, and Silas (who had just arrived on the island) enjoyed the supper, Marcia asks Boy 412 what he would like for his Apprentice Supper gIft. The chapter ends as Boy 412 decides he wants to know who his family is.
Chapter #49 starts as the inhabitants of the cottage are clustered around the duck pond, preparing for Aunt Zelda to scry. Zelda asks the moon to show her the family of Boy 412. Everyone sees their own reflections- except Marcia, who is the only one who notices hers missing. Zelda then asks the moon to show the reflection of Boy 412’s mother. Slowly, all the reflections fade from the pond except Sarah’s. Finally, Zelda asks the moon to show the reflection of Septimus Heap, the seventh son of Sarah and Silas who they thought was dead. The moon shows a reflection of just Boy 412. The book ends as Jenna, Nicko, Sarah, and Silas realize that Boy 412 has been Septimus Heap all along.
